Activities for People with Disabilities
Therapeutic Recreation programs offer recreation and leisure opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities but are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. Activities include sports, fitness classes, art classes, dance classes, special events, trips, and outings.

NEW! Therapeutic Recreation Scholarship
The City of Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation Department is offering scholarship funds for 2015 for individuals with disabilities to participate in Therapeutic Recreation classes. To apply, complete the Therapeutic Recreation Scholarship Application and return to Beth June at 4005 Kipling St. For specific questions regarding the scholarship, please contact Beth June.

Fitness Buddies
Ages: 12 +
Overview: If you're looking to get fit with a workout designed specifically to meet your needs and goals by a certified personal trainer- then this is your program! The initial cost of this program includes a fitness assessment, followed by a one hour training with a certified trainer and a member of our Therapeutic Team. Then you and a member of the Therapeutic Team can meet on a consistent basis following the workout designed for you by the personal trainer! Clients must fill out a personal training packet prior to the fitness assessment, which can be obtained at the front desk. You will then be called to schedule your assessment and training!
Assessment and 1 hour training: $60 (R) $65 (NR)
Each additional training: $25 (R) $30 (NR)

Leisure Links
Ages: 6+ years
This program is designed to assist you in achieving your recreation and leisure goals with the help of a leisure coach. The first session will consist of an assessment of your needs followed by five sessions of an activity of your choice. Call Beth June at 303-231-1317 to set up dates and times. Please note, Leisure Coaches are not personal trainers. 6 sessions.
$70 R $75 NR

Due to staffing, we cannot provide personal care assistance. If you need assistance, you must provide an assistant. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to participate in all recreation programs offered through the Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation Department. Call Beth at (303) 231-1317 at least two weeks in advance if you are interested in registering in a general recreation class and need inclusion assistance.
